I came home from work today extremely anxious and wide awake. It seemed that I was over stimulated from the bombardment of Tweets, messages, replies, BBMs, SMSs and emails - literally, my head was spinning.
How does one stay grounded in the land of digital? Honestly! I am a huge advocate for Social Media and digital networking, but today I realized the addiction running through my veins (or cortex for that matter). A healthy addiction - no doubt, but is there a need to detach the grip from the ‘ol laptop and go for a walk? Drive? Vids? We did have fantastic weather in Toronto today. Hmmmmm….
Here’s the thing: When working within the confines of a small company, organization or start-up, the attachment to your power button really is 24/7. The only issue is, BURNOUT! Yes, it is only Monday and I am not complaining at all. What I am trying to get across is the fundamental thought regarding structure, pace and great scheduling - Something I have been known to fault in.
Believe it or not, my adventures into the world of Social Media has developed my organizational foundation into tip top form. My iPhone calendar is my girlfriend and my DM on Twitter is my voicemail. Once I sat back and realized what a great support system I have created, I immediately put my feet up, turned on a bad episode of Simpsons and began a night that proved to be more relaxing than anticipated!
As time passes and I dive more and more into the digital realm, I am finding that those thoughts of “What will I be doing when I grow up” really are starting to take shape in a passion that did not exist before….. I want to be a Twitter Avatar!
